*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm from Southern California but I currently live in Colorado Springs, CO. I learned to knit when I was 10 years old. My grandma taught me. After she died I was curious about crochet. I taught myself to crochet and have been addicted ever since. I guess you could call it a drug of choice for me.
*How did you decide on your shop name? Why did you start your business?
My shop name came from a nick name I acquired back in high school. I had a very terrible dye job and was being called calico. Eventually it was shortened to Cali but I didn't like it being confused with California so I changed it to Kali. I started my shop because I knit/crochet for fun but I very much enjoy selling my stuff.
*What are 5 things you want people to think when they see your product?
I want people to think my stuff is cute, unique, creative, a must have and that my listing must be passed on.
*What’s your supply addiction; is there a specific color or type of supply you just can’t pass up?
I love yarn. Being a knitter/crocheter I guess thats a must. I don't have a
specific color but if I can look at a skein of yarn and see something I want to make I must buy it.
*What do you do when you’re not being an artist? What activities do you enjoy?
When I'm not working with yarn I enjoy going on hikes with my husband. We've been married under a year and he is in the air force. Spending time with him is my favorite thing to pass the time.
*Which item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
My favorite listing in my shop is either my owl tote or the knitting needle bangles. I love a challenge. The owl tote pattern was new and entertaining to make. The knitting needle bangles were the most frustrating thing to figure out. I broke several of them trying to figure out how to make them but I found it rewarding when I finally did.
*What keeps you motivated?
New challenges keep me motivated. I enjoy trying new patterns and teaching myself new stitches. I like looking at something I think I can't make and proving myself wrong.
*If you could give a piece of advice to a new shop - what would it be?
My advice to others is to join teams. Joining different teams gets my shop exposure to different crowds. I think it generates most of my views.
* Is this your first craft adventure or have you tried other crafts? What would you like to try?
I would like to get into quilting but first I must learn to sew!
*Are there other places on the net we can find you?
I can be found on facebook and twitter.
@kalijames13 is my twitter account.
I use both sites to promote my shop.
