Digital Delights

*Where are you from? Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a Georgia Peach transplant living in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. I am a self taught digital artist and love to design. I find the challenge of creating a specific vision for my customers exciting and joyous, especially when they are delighted with the results. I am a free spirit. Although my style is whimsically eclectic, I appreciate all styles (that's what makes an eclectic soul, eclectic!).

*How did you decide on your shop name? Why did you start your business?
I started my business, Alli's Studio over 10 years ago, designing logos, websites, art and stationery mostly by word of mouth. It wasn't until recently that I got the energy to expand and market my services and designs globally through the great vehicle of social media. I was already "branded" and wanted to maintain my name, hence my shop name. I started the business because I wanted to share my talents with others that were complimentary of my work. So many people encouraged me to keep designing, so I think it was just in the stars.

*What are 5 things you want people to think when they see your product?
I want people to see my:
  • joy and love of design
  • flare for color
  • attention to detail
  • passion
  • and heart!

*What’s your supply addiction; is there a specific color or type of supply you just can’t pass up?
I love metallic papers. I am a purple addict.

*What do you do when you’re not being an artist? What activities do you enjoy?
When I'm not designing, I have a full time job as a public relations director. I love my 9 to 5 alter ego as it provides me with an opportunity to wear many hats: graphic artist, media relations, communications coordinator, copywriter... Outside of burning the candle at both ends, I love to hike the beautiful gorges and waterfalls of the Finger Lakes region. I'm also a foodie and somewhat of a gourmet cook. I hand paint furniture, mostly for charity auctions and have developed a bit of a following. I love interior design and use my home as my palette, gallery and showcase.

*Which item in your shop did you enjoy making the most and why?
I loved designing the Owl Be Yours wedding invitation because it's a bit different than what I usually design. I had fun stepping outside my box.

*What keeps you motivated?
My friends, colleagues, children and husband...there's not a day that goes by that one of them doesn't dole out some good ol' kind words of encouragement and praise.

*If you could give a piece of advice to a new shop - what would it be?
Well, I'm actually a new shop, but upon perusing the plethora of shops day after day since my Etsy addiction began, I would have to offer: make your images compelling and have some continuity of theme in your shop.

*Are there other places on the net we can find you?
